The classification is based upon: Hottinger, l., Halicz, E. and Reiss, Z. 1993. Recent Foraminiferida from the Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea. Slovenska Akademija Znanosti in Umenosti (Ljubljana), classis IV, dela vol. 33, Page 151, Plate 216.

according to Hottinger et. al. various authors classify this spieces as E. crispum whereas they classify it differently as Elphidium sp. C, as it differs from the Linné type figure e.g. by smaller size, less chambers per coli and greater thickness.
