The classification is based upon: Hottinger, l., Halicz, E. and Reiss, Z. 1993. Recent Foraminiferida from the Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea. Slovenska Akademija Znanosti in Umenosti (Ljubljana), classis IV, dela vol. 33, Page 149, Plate 212.

Hottinger et. al. note, that the whole E. macellum group needs to be revised, as E. limbatum (Chapman 1909) and E. nigarense Cushman, 1936 resemble those of E. macellum (Fichtel and Moll, 1798). Hottinger et. al. classify such specimens as E. cf. E. limbatum
